This contains a lot of mature themes or whatever because I’m A GROWN-UP, MOM.
The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do. It takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta start off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you gotta take it up a notch — but you don’t wanna blow your wad just yet. There are a lot of rules.
— Rob Gordon, High Fidelity (my favourite movie)
I don’t know anything about Hyperpop. It sounds like Skrillex and Mindless Self Indulgence — but, like… bloopier, with some Say Anything winky-ness in the lyrics, and then the completely sincere version of of faster-louder-bigger production than strikes me as SOPHIE’s specific legacy. Aidan knows more about hyperpop than I do. When left to my own devices, I will listen to the same seven albums on repeat for fifteen years. Aidan's not like that, though. He's braver than I am.
